Journal of Transport Information and Safety was founded in 1983. It is a bimonthly professional and technical journal publishes in China and abroad. Taking transport system as main subject, it focuses on two areas of information technologies and safety of transportation, reports innovative studies and engineering applications of theories and outstanding achievements in the field of transportation as well as interdisciplinary studies. The journal also introduces academic papers, study results, and experiences in theoretical and actual applications of collection, transmission, processing, and dissemination of transportation systems. It follows up the developments and issues in the fields of transport information and safety in transportation, i.e. new theories, technologies, study methods, standards, and equipment, etc.
Journal of Transport Information and Safety is cited in the Chinese Core Journals Overview as a core journal. It is one of the sources for Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD), Core Science and Technology Journals, and Research Center for Chinese Science Evaluation (RCCSE) (within Class A, top 20% of all journals in the field of Transportation Engineering). Journal of Transport Information and Safety has been cited by the Chinese Academic Journal Comprehensive Evaluation Database (CAJCED), the Chinese Core Journals (Selection) Database, the Chinese Scientific and Technological Periodicals Database, Chinese Lifelong Education Academic Research Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Chinese Academic Journals (CAJ-CD), and Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). It is also indexed in World Journal Clout Index Report (2020 STM).
The editorial office of Journal of Transport Information and Safety has collaborated with more than 30 domestic and foreign research institutions and groups, including China Communications and Transportation Association (CCTA), The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Canadian Society of Civil Engineers (CSCE), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), China Intelligent Transportation Systems Association (ITS-China), Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI), China Institute of Navigation, Hubei Intelligent Transportation Systems Association, etc.
At present, Journal of Transport Information and Safety has 4,176 institutional subscribers from about 20 countries/regions, served by nearly 20 libraries, including National Library of China, Development Research Center of the State Council, Hong Kong Central Library, Library of Congress (USA), Ministry of Defense (France), National Library of Singapore, etc. It is also subscribed by 40 universities, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Hong Kong University, National Taiwan University, University of Oxford, University of Tokyo, Australian National University, etc.
The notion of editing and publishing Journal of Transport Information and Safety is scientific, realistic, and pragmatic. Until the end of Year 2020, it has published 229 issues within 38 volumes, with more than 5,000 papers. The journal has made an important contribution to the development of transportation industry, especially to informatization and modernization of transport systems in China. Journal of Transport Information and Safety has been awarded the “Excellent Science and Technology Periodical” for many times by the Ministry of Transport, China as well as the Hubei Province. It has received the award of “Excellent Science and Technology Periodical of Hubei Province” for the fifth consecutive time.
